Details of Toronto Island Picnic

Toronto Dance is hosting the second annual Toronto Island Picnic on Sat Aug 6 11:00am to 6:00pm. The picnic is held in area #31. See details below about how to get there, including ferry schedules. We'll be there from 10:00am onwards if you wish to go early.

Bring your own food (in a cooler), swimsuits, towels, suntan lotions, picnic blankets, frisbees, beach balls, etc.

BBQ: There is a BBQ grill on site. We will supply the charcoal, BBQ utensils, plates, napkins, plastic utensils, and and condiments. Please note that propane/gas BBQs and alcoholic beverages are not permitted in public areas.

Activities: There are bike (location #16 below) and canoe rentals (location #15) available for those of you who would like to explore the Toronto Islands. Since we are very close to the beach, you may also want to enjoy a swim or a walk around the island.

If you are interested in attending this picnic, please contact us. You should have received an evite from us. You may bring friends and children. If you bring children, please make sure you supervise them carefully in the wading pool, playground, and beach area.

Please take the Island Ferry to Centre Island. It departs every 15 mins. When you arrive, walk to Picnic Area #31. Area #31 is location #19 on the map highlighted by an ellipse with an arrow showing the way there. Area #31 is between the wading pool and the beach.

Below is a map showing the route from the ferry docks. The ferry docks are located at Bay St and Queens Quay. You can get there by going to Union Subway station and getting an underground streetcar from Union Station to the first stop or taking the Bay bus south. Parking is expensive unless you get there early. From the ferry docks, take the ferry to Centre Island.

Ferry Details

Ferries depart to Centre Island every 30/15 mins. The cost (for adults) is $6.00 return. The cost for youth under 16 is $2.50. For more info, call 416-392-8193. It is possible to get group tickets for 10 or more for 10% off.
