Outing for Salsa-Nightclub Sat 2003-05-31

Join us for our end-of-term Salsa-Nightclub outing on Sat 2003-05-31 at El Rancho. Women pay $1 between 9:00-10:30pm. Men pay $9.

Outing Report: There were 32 Toronto Dance students and 6 friends and we made up 75% of the people on the lower floor until around 11pm! Many Sunday and Monday Salsa students met each other for the first time. Everyone raved about the outing and they requested to do this every week! Some diehards were dancing until 2am (and you know who you are!). Thank you to Jean to make sure that all the students had a ride home.

Outing for Latin-Ballroom Fri 2003-05-30

Join us for our end-of-term Latin-Ballroom outing on Fri 2003-05-30 to Anna's Dance Studio at 622 Bloor St. West (west of Bathurst). There is a free lesson at 8pm, light dinner at 9pm, and dancing until midnight.

Outing Report: There were 16 Toronto Dance students. CFMT TV was there video taping part of the outing so we may appear on CFMT.

Outing for Swing students Fri 2003-05-16

This is an outing for the Toronto Dance students taking Swing. Your instructor, Lynn Wilsher, is taking you out to a Toronto Swing Dance Society dance and lesson. The lesson this time is on West Coast Swing, taught by Lori & Joe Mascia from Buffalo, NY.

Ballroom, Latin and Salsa Party for Arthritis Thurs 2003-05-15

Toronto Dance is helping to sponsor this Ballroom, Latin and Salsa Dance Party in order to raise money for the Arthritis Society. The organizing group is Mambo in Motion.

The event is held at the Kings Garden Banquet Hall & Golden Lion Restaurant, 15 Canmotor Ave, Etobicoke. Tickets are $25 in advance (you may buy tickets from Toronto Dance) or $30 at the door. There is a silent auction. Doors open at 7pm. Click here for a map.

There are two large halls to dance on. There will be Salsa demos from Grupo Sabroso and Latin & Ballroom demos from Toronto Dance, all in full costume. Come and enjoy the dancing, music and demos - dance experience not required. Hors D'oeuvres are complimentary. Food and drinks are available in the restaurant.

Free dance classes are offered from Chuan Chee from Toronto Dance and from United Salseros.

Dress code: Semi-formal. No jeans or T-shirts. (The ticket says formal but a suit-and-tie and a long dress are sufficient).
There is enough parking for around 400 cars at the venue and in the surrounding area.

Outing for Salsa students Mon 2003-05-12

Rocky, your instructor, has planned an outing to Alleycatz at 2409 Yonge St (two blocks north of Eglinton Ave).

There is a beginner Salsa lesson 8-9pm. Dancing continues until 2am. Click here for Alleycatz's website and map.

Cost:

• Beginner lesson 8-9pm: $5/p includes coat check
  Anyone who has taken Toronto Dance's Salsa 1 class already knows more than this lesson would be teaching.
• Entry 9-11pm: FREE
• Entry 11pm-2am: $5/p includes coat check

Rocky and Sharon are teaching at Toronto Dance's Salsa level 1 (8-9pm) and level 2 (9-10pm) and will arrive after 10:30pm. Chuan will leave with the Salsa 1 students after their 8-9pm class.

Outings Report: The outing was well-attended considering it was a Monday night. There were over 20 Toronto Dance students who enjoyed themselves. You should have seen that sexy congo line!

Outing for Salsa students Fri 2003-05-02

Try out your Salsa and Merengue dancing at a real nightclub in downtown Toronto. The nightclub is called Babalúu at 136 Yorkville Ave (near Avenue and Bloor), lower level. Click here for a map.

There is a lesson 9-10pm. If you enter before 9pm, it is FREE (including the lesson!).

Dress code: Smart casual. No jeans or T-shirts.

Outings Report: We had over 30 Toronto Dance students from our Sunday and Monday classes at the outing. There were also 10 friends or relatives of the students. Some students met classmates from the other class. Everyone had lots of fun! The teacher was also entertaining.

Outing for Swing students Fri 2003-04-25

This is a special outing for the Toronto Dance students taking Swing. Your instructor, Lynn Wilsher, is taking you out to a Toronto Swing Dance Society dance and lesson. The lesson this time is on Hustle, taught by Lynn. Gus is the D.J. So join them for a good night of dancing.

Burn The Floor stage show on Tues 2003-04-22 and 24

Toronto Dance has arranged for excellent seats to the excellent dance show called Burn The Floor. The show will be at the Hummingbird Centre, 1 Front St E (at Yonge St) Apr 22 to 26 (7 performances only!). This show has been a world-wide hit for many years. It was a sold-out event 2 years ago when it was in Toronto. There is latin, ballroom, salsa, swing. Now is your chance to see this show in excellent seats at a group rate.

Purrrrrfect Harmony demo Sun 2003-04-13

Toronto Dance and its affiliates are doing a demo at a choir concert on Sunday Apr 13 1:30-2:00pm. There will be demos in Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive), Ballroom (Waltz, Tango), Ballroom Babies, Irish Step Dance, and Irish Set Dance.

The event is hosted by the DCAT 60-person chorus in a unique entertainment ensemble with a broadway-styled theatrical flair. This event is a fundraiser to raise money for the youth programs at Jimmie Simpson Centre, Ralph Thornton Centre and Ontario Special Olympics. DCAT has performed at Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall and New York City's South Street Seaport.

Salsa Party Sat 2003-04-12

The University of Toronto Dance Club (UTDC) is having its anniversary dance party celebration on Sat Apr 12 near Avenue and Bloor. UTDC has invited Toronto Dance to join in its party. The cost is only $3 per person!

Salsa Outing to Plaza Flamingo Fri 2003-04-11

Plaza Flamingo is located at 423 College St. (east of Bathurst on the south side). On Fridays, the cost is $6/person (ladies get in free before 10:30pm). However, if you wish to attend their lesson at 8:30-9:30pm, you must pay $7/person. Click and fill in this coupon to pay only $6/person.

Strauss and Swing Soirée Dinner and Dance Sat 2003-03-29

Toronto Dance is a proud sponsor of the Strauss and Swing Soirée organized by Sinfonia Toronto. The dinner and dance is held on Saturday March 29, 6:00pm to 1:00am at the amazing Arcadian Court, 401 Bay St, 8th Floor. Dance to a live orchestra and a live big band! Watch dance performances! Dine in continental splendour in the white marble ballroom of the Arcadian Court, beautifully restored to its turn-of-the century elegance. Dance the night away to the Viennese Waltzes and Polkas by Sinfonia Toronto and swing to your favourite standards (Foxtrot, Quickstep, Swing) by the Toronto All-Star Big Band. There will be dance performances by members of Toronto Dance while you dine.

Prepare for an elegant evening of dancing by attending complimentary Viennese Waltz and Swing lessons sponsored by Toronto Dance for patrons attending the Strauss and Swing Soirée.
